Child's Apple watch showing parent's name/contact info

Hi,

Both of my kids have apple watches (cellular) with their own phone number. On both of their watches, they cannot call me because my contact card shows as "me". In the contacts, the upper right icon shows as my initials with my contact information. How do I change this to their contact info/apple ID? It's important that they are able to call me! I've searched forums and can't find the answer anywhere. Thanks for the advice!!

Do your children each have their own Apple IDs?

Did you set up the watches as described in this article?

Yes. They have their own Apple IDs and they are set up as family share.

Did you make sure, that in your contact list, your contact details are not saved under the name "Me"?

You could also try to set up another contact card for your name and share this contact information with those two Apple Watches, as explained in section #9 in the related article from above.

Hi, I confirmed that my contact info was listed as "me" on their watches, so I edited that contact card with their own phone numbers and icloud email addresses. This now allows them to call my phone number. However, when I text them from my phone number, the name that pops up is their own name instead of mine. For example, my name is "K" and my daughter's name is "B." When I text her from my phone number, it shows on her watch as from "B" not "K." Any ideas?

Sorry for being unclear.

If you change the "Me" information on their watches and add your phone numbers instead, your text will always show up as sent by you.

In the example mentioned above, the "Me" information on your daughters watch should contain your daughters phone number, and not yours.

"Me" always relates to the owner of the device/phone number.

I think what you’re describing is what I did. For the contact card that showed “me” on her watch I changed the info from mine to hers. So the contact card that shows “me” is her name and contact info.

I created a new contact card with my info. Then texted her. And my text came up as from her own name 🤷🏻‍♀️
