CAPTAL letters on iPod - Band names, etc.

My iPod recently changed some of my band names to regular capitalization. Most of my bands were in all CAPS. My library in iTunes on my PC is still in all CAPS. Why does my iPod have a mind of it's own and make life difficult?

iPod, iOS 12

In which case see the comments in Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows - Apple Community about multiple tags. That's the only other scenario I can think of which might lead to a discrepancy between the details you have for these tracks in your library and those that show up on your device. Assuming of course that you're setting both Artist and Album Artist consistently.

I assume this is an iPod touch given it is running iOS. If you are signed into your Apple ID then iTunes/Music may sometimes show the original store metadata for any unhidden purchases. To ensure your own custom changes are respected download your past purchases, hide the originals from your purchase history, reapply any custom metadata and sync the items to your device.
