Can't move face circle in Photos

Running 14.5 on M2 Max. I've tried disconnecting my external monitor, rebooting my Mac, and hitting Cmd when I click on the + to add a face. I also know about clicking onto the photo before trying to move the face circle. None of this works. I click to add a face, and the circle pops up. When I try to move it, it wants to move the whole photo. I can't resize the circle either. Doesn't matter if I've already put a name in the circle or not. Behavior is the same. All I cal do is click the X to remove the circle. Looking around, I've seen people back in 2022 having the same issue!

When you cannot move a circle that you added yourself, the focus has moved from the circle to the image itself, and when you try to move the circle, the image will be moved instead.

Some fixes, that usually will work- try them one after the other:

  • Click into the background outside the faces circle, then try to adjust the faces circle.
  • If that does not work, enter a name into the name field, just where the circle is, then drag the circle to the correct position.
  • If that still will not work, quit photos and relaunch it. If the problem persists, restart the Mac.
