spam at mac.com email address

I am suddenly receiving hundreds of emails an hour at my mac.com email address. I followed the directions to delete that email and I chose a me.com as my sign in email. But I am STILL getting hundreds of emails at the old mac.com address. what can i do to disable use of the email to send email to me?

The mac.com and me.com both go through iCloud and the darknet has and will continue to send SPAM to you via iCloud. They know that both of those are iCloud addresses. You won't be able to block crap addresses in the From header field as the miscreants continuously change those with different SPAM campaigns.

I chose the following approach and it works well for me: Creating a rule in Apple Mail designed to… - Apple Community

I never use an important email address in any Internet communication (sign-ups, purchases, etc.) and instead use one associated with the local university alumni program. Cuts down on the b.s.
