has already happened to Yosemite).

Firefox 115 ESR support continues until Sep. 2024. After that, it doesn't suddenly stop working with websites. It could well be another 3-4 years before that even begins to happen.

IMHO if you exercise a reasonable degree of care in your internet activities and use at least an ad blocker like uBlock Origin + Privacy Badger you should be able to continue using FFOX 115 ESR on Mojave for the forseeable future.

but what if I bought a 2020 mac

None of the Macs released in 2020 can run Mojave.

All of the Intel-based Macs released in that year came with some version of Catalina. All of the Apple-Silicon-based Macs released in that year came with some version of Big Sur. It's a well-known rule that Macs cannot run a version of macOS earlier than the one that first shipped with their particular hardware model.

oh and I have the last eMac, the last rig able to dual boot classic and OS X

eMac (2005) – introduced May 2005, discontinued October 2005. 1.44 GHz, single-core PowerPC G4, 80 or 160 GB hard drive, official limit is 1 GB of RAM, actual limit is 2 GB. Originally came with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Can run Leopard, but not the Intel-only Snow Leopard.

expecting to receive 7.15 years support
just like 2007 - 2017

now only 3 years later
I find it is no longer supported.

Every Mac released in 2020 will be able to run macOS Sequoia. Every one. So this scenario of a 2020 Mac that supposedly is "no longer supported" "only 3 years" after its release is one that didn't happen.
