MacOS Monterey Calendar event time entry interface issue -

I've been trying to help a senior user with some issues on MacOS Monterey. One of his problems is adding a new event in the calendar application.

When creating a new event, you need to type the event times quickly in the dialog or it will auto confirm the last entry. For example, when trying to enter 16.00, if you type the 1 then wait 2 seconds and type the 6, the entry will confirm 01, then confirm 06 and the event will be entered at 06.00. This is not going to be a problem with most people typing fast enough but for older people with hesitation or bad sight it just becomes impossible and very frustrating.

I've tested a couple other apps like Fantastical and OneCal but the behaviour is similar.

Is there any way to change this behaviour? Or is there any other easy to use app - synchronised with icloud - I could try?

I doubt it’s possible to change this behavior. I used a different method to create new events in Calendar: I use the mouse.

On the day of the event, I click on the start time (if the event is at 16:00, I click the corresponding time in the “day grid”) and drag the cursor to the end time. Upon releasing the mouse, a popup window appears to allow filling in the event informations. You can also use that popup to adjust the times. Once the event is created, you can even drag it with the mouse to set it for a different time.
