I watched a crack form on my screen when nothing was touching it (iPhone 15 Pro Max)
I walked inside, took my phone out of my pocket, and put it on the charger. Before the screen light could even turn off, I watched a very thin hairline crack start in the top left corner and work its way down the screen. Even worse, when I picked it up a little flake of broken glass fell out from the edge and ended up somewhere in my carpet.
The phone was sitting face up on my desk. There was nothing touching the screen. The only explanation I can think of is that the room was ~15 degrees cooler than it was outside (80F/65F). The air conditioner was NOT blowing directly on my phone.
Is the glass on the iPhone made to survive minor thermal stress, like walking from one room to another in the summertime? The screen was not cracked before.
