Does iMac’s Standard Keyboard and Mouse Count as Built-In Peripherals for Online Exams?

Hi Apple Community,

I’m seeking advice regarding using my iMac for an online exam. The official email from the exam provider listed technical requirements but did not specify any restrictions about wireless or built-in peripherals (all in one). As an iMac user, my computer came with a keyboard and mouse as part of the standard package.

The exam provider’s guidelines were ambiguous about whether built-in peripherals are acceptable. I had my exam yesterday and was shocked to find that my Apple mouse, which is wireless, was flagged as an issue. As I said the official email did not mention that only wired devices were permitted. In the 21st century, it seems unreasonable to expect users to use non-Apple devices or to find out such requirements only at the last minute. I haven’t used a wired mouse or keyboard since 2000.

Is there any guidance on how Apple handles such situations, or advice on how I should proceed?

Thank you!

The mouse was the biggest issue. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I did, I contacted the Customer Service Department, etc.

Currently, the only channel of communication is their IELTS team, which is clearly not an IT department.

I asked them, 'If Mac users are allowed, then what peripherals are we supposed to use?, 'cause Macs come with Bluetooth by default and following those terms and conditions, it appears that Mac users are actually banned. And they said that they understand the rules are challenging for Mac users but "those are the rules". LOL

Rules that demonstrate technically illiterate and not compatible with the 21st century.

Anyway, I’m thinking of going to my local Apple Store today to ask them to confirm that Apple keyboards and mice are part of the system.

p.s: It seems like they don’t have IT specialists who are seriously addressing these issues. Many people even downgrade their macOS just to get the app to work. I faced a similar problem earlier this year but with IELTS IDP, the app is the same. I used my MacBook and it couldn’t handle the software, so I ended up failing due to technical reasons. Now ... again. $600 for nothing!
