Unable to send a WhatsApp message using Siri

For some reason I'm unable to send a WhatsApp message using Siri. I keep getting the response “Doesn’t look like (name) has WhatsApp enabled”. Then Siri says “To who?” It's never done this before.

WhatsApp works fine when just sending a message manually.

The app is updated and I've restarted my phone and even deleted and reinstalled WhatsApp.

My iPhone 14 is up to date also.

I've searched Google and checked WhatsApp FAQ but cant find anything related to this particular problem.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

thanks

Hi all,

I've found the answer in another thread: add the word "mobile" after the name and it works. For me, in Italy, adding "cellulare" does the job.

So, "hey siri, send a new whatsapp message to John Doe mobile" works.

Regards.

Me too, exactly the same issue. Tried powering phone on and off, no difference.

iOS 17.5.1

WhatApp v2.24.15.71

iPhone14

WhatsApp works perfectly in all other respects. When used with CarPlay WhatsApp speaks my new messages just fine, but when I reply I get the "Doesn’t look like (name) has WhatsApp enabled”.

I get the same thing when I use the phone without CarPlay, just using Siri.

Driving me nuts!
