Why does Google Meet keep crashing on my iMac?

Google Meet crashes every time I use it on my iMac (21.5-in, 2017, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB, 8 GB 2133 MHz DDR4, iOS 13.6.7). Sometimes it crashes 10 minutes into a meeting, sometimes mere seconds. I am literally losing work over this and would be grateful for a solution.

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

If still need be…

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?
