For me, simply turning ‘Protect Mail Activity’ off was insufficient. Turning it off revealed two further switches: ‘Hide IP Address’ and ‘Block all remote content’. Turning ‘Hide IP Address’ off did the trick.
Still, the abrupt change in Mail behavior indicates something is awry in Apple land, and ‘Hide IP Address’ is a useful feature. Have to remember to re-enable it when the problem is resolved.
No, nothing is awry. It was a new feature added in iOS 17.5.

That doesn’t work
It’s not recommended to turn that off. Doing so allows you to be easily tracked and more easily compromised or hacked.

This seems fixed for me now (7/27 @ 1pm). Anyone else? I did not make any changes to any settings and confirmed I saw this issue last night (7/26).

Me TOO! This just started 7/25, but it’s appearing on EVERY single email. No idea why this just started happening. Seems over 1000 other Apple users with the same issue.
