Does Plastic Apple Card get 2% back?

It used to be that ApplePay had to be used on AppleWatch to get 2% back. Has that changed? Does using the plastic Apple Card for ApplePay now get 2% back?

iPhone 13, iOS 17

I think either the person at the Apple Store misinformed you or you misunderstood or both.

Any transaction that involves the physical titanium card or entering a number will receive 1% Daily Cash back. Any transaction using Apple Pay or Tap-To-Pay will receive 2% Daily Cash back. Any purchase at Apple or a group of select merchants (Walgreens, Exxon, Mobil, Nike, Uber, Uber Eats, Duane Reed, Panera, some Ace Hardware, Apple) will earn 3% in Daily Cash back if Apple Pay or Tap-To-Pay is used. Any purchase from Apple earns 3% even using the card and online.

When I first got my Watch and Titanium Card several years ago, my statement/digital file showed that purchases made with my Watch got 2% and those with the TCard got 1%. These were for the same vendor. I questionned it at an Apple store and was told that Apple wanted the Watch used, not the card; that was the incentive for the 2%. I then learned to use my Watch and filed the TCard away.

From your answer, I assume that this has changed (I did see the 1%, 2% difference on my statement) and that it no longer matters what is used.

I'm asking because I notice that ApplePay is offered at checkout for some online purchases. Obviously, I cannot scan my Watch for this so I am assuming that I can key in my card number and receive the 2% bonus.

Is this correct?
