How do get back disappeared iTunes library on Windows?

Windows 11, iTunes 12.13.2.3. Woke up this morning and opened iTunes and every one of my songs has an exclamation point next to it and wants me to 'locate' it. Where did they all go? They were there yesterday. What broke their connection and how do I find them?

Thanks,

Rip

The first thing that springs to mind is to ask if your music files are stored on an external drive? If so, that drive must be on, have the same drive letter as it did yesterday and it must be ready to read before you start iTunes.

Basically, the exclamation points indicate that the files are no longer where they were the day before, either because the location is not available (as per my points above) or the path-name (to the files) has been changed, or every single one of the files has been deleted since being added to your library.

Since all of your library is missing, that seems to exclude the possibility that the filenames themselves have been changed.
