Heart by contact name

I have noticed that a contact in my telephone list had a red heart emoji next to it. I think the contact was saved from WhatsApp. I did not add the heart emoji and it has caused friction with my partner

even though I did not add the heart!

can anyone explain why please

i have recently upgraded from an iPhone 13 to iPhone 15 plus
