Can you upgrade ram/SSD on Mac mini M2?
I have a Mac mini M2 I couldn’t really afford anything else so I got the lowest specs. I’m wondering if I can upgrade anything about it really. thank you in advance if anyone answers this.
Mac mini, macOS 14.5

Sorry, no. See the following from Upgrade or install memory in your Mac mini - Apple Support
Memory is integrated into the Apple M-series chip package in Mac mini (2023) and Mac mini (M1, 2020)and can't be upgraded. You can configure the memory in your Mac mini when you purchase it.
The SSD is soldered to the board and it cannot be upgraded either.

No the Silicone Mac's are not upgradeable.
If you need more storage space, move your Photos, Music or Movie Libraries to an external drive.

If you need more Disk Space and RAM? Then you need to order one with the desired spec's.
Also note: that Apple has a 14 day no questions asked full return policy if you want to return that one.
There is no way to upgrade RAM, or the internal SSD. You can add external storage.
The others have told you that to attempt to desolder the SSD will destroy your Mac but you don't have to even think of doing that as a USB 3.0 SSD will solve all your troubles.
You may think that the much slower speed of a USB 3.0 will be a problem . . . not at all!
I even have my M2 Mini running (booting) off a cheap Crucial SSD and it performs bench tests and practical rendering and exporting 4K video in FCP and DaVinci Resolve just as fast as the internal drive.
Obviously if you are copying massive files it will take longer but how often do you do that?
Just get yourself a cheap USB 3.0 SSD and either use it as an external drive or a boot drive.
Using it as a boot drive also prevents any wear and tear on your valuable internal SSD, which just sits there doing nothing unless you tell it to.
Nope.
That is the sad thing with ''carry and throw'' of today's expensive computers, including macs.
Does it work well for you?
If it does, you need not worry about the performance.
Depending on your usage the SSD will probably be too small so simply buy a cheap 1 TB or 2 TB USB SSD from a reputable maker and you will be fine.

Not unless you want to turn your M2 Mac mini into a non-functioning paperweight.
First, it's extremely unlikely that you have the skill that it takes to successfully unsolder chips from a motherboard without damaging the board.
Second, Apple Silicon Macs encrypt the contents of their SSDs. Break the "pairing" between the encryption keys and the contents of the SSD and you are not going to be a happy camper.
This is why, on Apple Silicon Mac Pros and Mac Studios that have replaceable flash modules, installing a new flash module involves using another Mac to get the processor and the contents of the new flash modules back in sync – then reinstalling macOS and restoring your backups. The encryption keys and the data must be put back in sync – or the machine becomes a doorstop.
