How can I delete songs from a used 2nd generation iPod Shuffle?

I purchased a used 2nd generation ipod shuffle that has songs on it that I want to delete. How do I do this?

I learned you can drag and drop various music you purchased with exception to recent music I’ve purchased. Is there a certain amount of time to wait before that music can be added to iPod? Unable to delete songs from iTunes on my iPod shuffle 2nd gen When I try to delete songs on itunes to delete on my playlist for my ipod shuffle 2nd generation, the song is not deleting, it just remains there even when I click delete, how can i remove songs that I no longer want? Connect the iPod to iTunes on your computer and go through the process of adding your music to it. The procedure will delete the old music.

If you have a newer Mac, use Finder instead of iTunes.
