Mail - Your network preferences prevent content from loading privately ????

I have been unable to find any System setting that every refers to Mail's remote content. However, in Mail's Privacy there is this checkbox:

If you have Protect Mail Activity checked you will have to uncheck it to uncheck "Block All Remote Content".

"Your network preferences prevent content from loading privately"

If that's what I think it is, it may be a recent change to the way Mail handles remote content — remote content being message contents that reside on a system other than the one hosting the email message itself.

And, if that's what I think it is, the above message is not worded in a helpful manner, because it is not your network preferences that are blocking that content.

FYI Having the same issue on all our systems. In our case we couldn't just change the settings in the Mail app, close and relaunch. We had to Close the application and also Reboot the System for the changes to take place and work correctly. This was needed on all of our systems (running Ventura)

I'm not sure how they are connected, either. It's just an odd coincidence. iCloud Private Relay does "affect" your network preferences in a significant way.

So, would someone tell me what the heck is going on an why.

Possibly, it is the problem with iCloud Private Relay.
