Safari working but Chrome, Firefox and Opera and other apps can't access internet after router moved

Unless you're using a true VPN tunnel, such as between you and your employer's, school's or bank's servers, they provide false security from a privacy standpoint.  Read these articles:  Pubic VPN's are anything but public and Security Risks: The Dangers of Using Free VPNs (eccu.edu).  

Just some food for thought.

Widely-hyped partial-connection VPNs provide negligible added security while badly solving a problem which hasn’t existed for a decade or so, while ensuring that all your network activities are centralized and personally-identified metadata is available, collected, analyzed, and quite possibly resold.

If privacy and security are a consideration and not a need to ensure metadata is collected, then there are other alternatives including the existing end-to-end VPNs used for connections (that the commercial VPNs then doubly wrap the first section of that end-to-end VPN), and private relay and ODoH to provide privacy.

More generally, VPNs inherently and necessarily mess with IP network routing, and some of the add-on VPNs are still active at seemingly unexpected times.

You don't mention which OS version, or which Interface Safari is using.
