Connecting iPad to PC

Trying to connect my iPad Air to my Windows PC but I can't. I downloaded latest version of iTunes. All my software is up-to-date. Yet iTunes doesn't see the iPad. Computer says it's connected, there is a notification on my iPad about trusting this PC. But when I press trust nothing happens on iTunes. Help
