iPhone 15 Pro Max, overheating and shutting off brand new

I’ve read a couple of the threads related to this problem. I recently purchased a brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max June 15. A few days later, it was having issues with the phone overheating, feeling very hot and the screen would glitch turn hot pink and green and then shut off for several hours.

During these episodes, it was never plugged in and there were no background apps running. This problem persisted for several weeks. I have been in contact with the Verizon store where I purchased the phone; The Verizon tech hotline and the Apple Store. The solution has been for me to drive 30 to 45 miles to another Apple Store for a part that may fix the problem Or to get a refurbished phone. I’ve had the phone for less than two months. There has been no physical damage to the phone.

I don’t find indexing to be a valid excuse for a brand new phone to be overheating. I think it’s very unsafe for a handheld device to be overheating regardless of iCloud backing up or a new phone indexing. My anger sets in when I purchased a brand new phone and the solution is to send me a refurbished phone based off of company policy.

I didn’t pay for refurbished phone. I paid for a brand new phone that was defective and dangerous. Obviously, this seems to be a trending problem with this device. This should be addressed and customers should be compensated appropriately because this has been a very inconvenient experience to go without a phone for days at a time and no one is willing to help.

i’m disappointed in Apple and Verizon for not taking this issue seriously and selling defective products. I feel like I’ve been ripped off.

Obviously if this was a trending problem, with 100 million of that model sold, there would be thousands or even millions of posts about it. This is a problem with YOUR PHONE, and, under the terms of the warranty you agreed to Apple will replace a defective phone with a new or refurbished phone, at their option. From the symptom, your phone has a hardware problem, so it needs to be replaced.

If anything a refurbished phone is actually a better replacement than a new phone, because it has been tested more thoroughly than phones that are produced by millions and only go through quick automated testing. Your chance of getting a phone with the same (or a different) problem is lower with a refurb.

There are multiple other post related to an overheating issue with the phones. Maybe not in this thread because I just posted this today. But if you Google search there are multiple other post related to this topic. If you think that a refurbished is safer, that’s great. I just don’t like the fact that I paid for a brand new phone and I am receiving a refurbished phone. I don’t agree if that is their policy. I think it is wrong.

So, you are telling us what you think. What is that you feel that we can do to help you?

We are users......just like you. We don't have any say or influence in decisions that are made by Apple or Verizon.

Neither Apple nor Verizon read these boards, and even if they did, they would not respond here.

Hindsight is always 20/20, and I don't know what Verizon's policies might be, but if you had purchased the phone directly from Apple, you had 14 days to return the phone for a full refund.....no questions asked. I have to think that a company like Verizon would at least have a similar policy.

From your post it is very clear to me that you knew that you had a defective phone only a few days after you purchased the product. I don't understand why you would not have asked for a refund or replacement at that time, but that's me.

No need to answer that question though.

If you think that there is something that we can do for you......what would that be?
