Old iMac 2013 running High Sierra, erased the hard drive to install a new High Sierra OS. Now it boots only to recovery mode and cannot connect to recovery drive to get new OS.
I have tried everything suggested by Apple to connect via recovery mode in vain, and I have no iMac compatible with High Sierra Apple Store is useless.

The Mac App Store will block your efforts to download any operating system older than what shipped on that 2021 M1 Mac. You will need to do this on an older Mac that is capable of installing High Sierra.

Found a solution. Apparently, High Sierra has a security issue when trying to access Apple's recovery server. Had to change the URL in nvram. See https://mrmacintosh.com/how-to-fix-the-recovery-server-could-not-be-contacted-error-high-sierra-recovery-is-still-online-but-broken/.
To create a bootable installer, follow the steps at > Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support
FWIW can install macOS 10.13 High Sierra, 10.14 Mojave or 10.15 Catalina on the 2012 and 2013 iMac models.
Thanks, but I have a 2021 M1 running Sonoma. Can't figure out any way to download High Sierra to a bootable disk or flash drive using my iMac.
Is there any way I can download the OS to a flash drive on new iMac?
