Mac Mail Rule fails to execute for Junk mail

Most of my junk mail comes from stuff@gcardgrabber.com. It's all really worthless. So, I created a rule to move anything arriving from that address directly to trash. When I create the rule it asks if I want to apply it to existing mail, and it trashes all the mail from that address in the junk folder correctly. HOWEVER, Mail.app fails to apply that rule to newly arriving mail.

Why not? How can I get that rule to act on newly arriving mail correctly identified as junk?

I find using the method from Apple for Blocking or Unblocking Senders works well even without crafting a Specific Mail Rule

Given enough time, it will often and automatically move the Designated Sender Directly to Trash ( Bin of UK users )

The issue with Mail Rules, in the mail client, is that a this type of Rule is specific to the Senders Email Address

The email address may change by just 1 number or some other minor change.

That would effectively circumvent to mail rule and what is is supposed to do

Thank you for alerting me to "block sender" It seems odd that even though the sender is blocked, the mail appears saying it is "blocked." If it appears in any mailbox, it's not actually blocked. I just applied it to stuff@gcardgrabber.com. I'll come back to this post after I've seen how effective it is, or not.

The Mail rule simply fails once mail is identified as junk. There is no change at all in the sender address. I can confirm this by deleting the rule, adding it again, and saying "yes" to applying it to existing mail (it works fine in that one instance). Something is definite FUBAR with the rules function in the Mail app.

You are welcome

There have been several long and heated discussions on these forums regarding Blocked Senders and Junk Folder

When a Sender is Blocked " The Blocked icon  appears .

Technically, they are Blocked, whether in the Inbox or caught / automatically moved to Junk folder

I find, the easiest way to Empty the Junk folder is by using the Keyboard Combination presented in below illustration

Notation though.

Using that method will ByPAss the Trash ( Bin ) and immediately delete all messages in Junk

I use that command regularly AFTER I've reviewed the Junk folder because not everything that ends up there is really junk. Sometimes legitimate email slips through, even replies to email that I've sent. Junk screening is great, but it's hardly perfect. What I don't need is a bunch of email that is really identifiable (by rule) as worthless.

I don't suppose it's possible to sort a mailbox by whether an email is blocked or not?
