0.5x zoom no longer available on 13pro

My 0.5x zoom stopped working on my iPhone 13pro and I get the camera not recognized message in settings. Phone is in like-new condition. I took to Apple Store for repair. They tried changing camera hardware for $199 (and 2hrs) and said it still didn’t fix it. They did not charge me but sent me over to a sales associate to assist me with buying a replacement. The phone is just over a year old and I can’t justify buying a replacement for $900. I don’t get how the options are we can’t fix so just buy a new one?
