Problem with Bitterant coated Duracell battery in AirTag
I received notification the battery in one of my AirTags was getting low so I replaced it with a Duracell 2032 battery but the Find My app showed the battery as still being low. When I tried to find the AirTag, it was unable to find it.
I searched the community and found an article than mentioned a Bitterant coating on some batteries. I tried to respond but the thread was closed so I decided to post my response in a new "question". Apologies if there was a more appropriate way to post this as a solution rather than a question.
I sanded the outer edge and the face of the Duracell 2032 Bitterant coated battery with fine 320 grit sandpaper, wiped it clean, then re-inserted the battery. I heard the customary beep, replaced the cover and all is good. All it took to make this battery work was a very light sanding to remove the coating.
