cannot connect to cellular after ios 17.6 update

After upgrading my iPhone 11 Pro Max to 17.6, I cannot connect to cellular net anymore. The primary card (physical SIM) shows no signal while the secondary card (eSIM, data only ) max connects at 3G, even though I can see a mobile net mast and it worked fine here before . Luckily WIFI works. Are there others who have the same problem ? I be am in a town in Sweden right now , both cards are Danish and roaming is enabled with high data volumes . Should I maybe restore to previous version and if so how can I do it ? (I can connect the phone to my 2017 MacBook Pro).

Okay, I just chatted with Apple Support and they helped me fix it. I had to reset my network settings.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Transfer or Reset [Device]
  4. Tap Reset
  5. Tap Reset Network Settings
  6.  Enter phone passcode if prompted.

This worked for me immediately!

Same thing happened to my 11 Pro, I went to 2 certified Apple service centres including the Apple Store and they said my cellular service will never work because of a firmware issue after the update. Wifi works fine but my only option is to replace the phone and apple won’t do anything other than give me the standard trade in value. Very frustrating considering all I did was update my phone. Seems like they should at least offer something because they permanently damaged my phone.

All 3 phones in our house, auto updated last night to 17.6.1 and this morning none of us has cell connection. It says SOS in the corner of all 3 phones. Clearly a huge issue with the update.

Apple chat support, said they said they had to escalate this issue to their senior advisors but that they could only *call* me. SERIOUSLY? Apple broke all three of our phone-call-making-devices and they only way they can contact me is through a phone call? What planet is this????? They asked if I had a landline.

I'm out of luck.

Apple fix your issues.

At least I am not the only one . It definitively is the iPhone 11 Pro Max having a problem with this update, the same physical sim card got a full signal strength on another iPhone (8, not updated) in the same location (we tested that today). I solved it for myself by a rather expensive solution : bought an iPhone 15 Max Pro today . Here both SIM work flawlessly on iOS 17.6 . Sure, could have waited for apple fixing this flaw but I need my phone and we are out sailing these days, not coming to further larger cities in a while . Hence ditching the 11 pro max , keeping it as reserve in case a further update at some time will fix this . More money for Apple … at least I have Apple shares , so dividends will pay back some of it ;-)

The same thing just happened to my mom and Brother ‘s phone. They both have brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max & had their phone auto update to 17.6.1. Now both are stuck in SOS mode and only work on Wi-fi. This issue started on Thursday, my mom has been at the T-Mobile store basically all weekend and T-Mobile is saying that it’s an issue with Apple, Apple is saying that it’s an issue with T-Mobile and nobody that we contact is doing anything to resolve the issue. she even tried just asking to return the device and get a new one, but T-Mobile said they only return items up to 14 days and she got the devices 19 days ago… I got an iPhone 15 Pro the same day but don’t have automatic updates on and I as of right now still have my service. So I don’t know if it is the update or what but they got to get it figured out. This is crazy.

Upgraded an iPhone 11 to 17.6.1 and the mobile connection went straight away

so contacted Apple via the online help app. They ran a remote diagnostics and booked me into an iPhone store to help. The istore guy just said, you need a new phone!

so are apple now sending an update to break your phone to make you buy another one? Not sure what to do. Such a big company doubt anyone in their customer service really cares if a few phones don’t work anymore.
