WhatsApp keeps saying storage is full when it’s not!

My iPhone says i have 81GB free space in it but WhatsApp is saying i have only 26GB free! therefore it’s not backing up. I deleted chats, pics and videos but still. This doesn’t make sense though because the numbers are different. I don’t think the solution is to delete more chats or whatever. So what should I do to make WhatsApp reads the right number of the storage?

iPhone free storage: 81GB

iCloud free storage: 1.8TB

WhatsApp free storage: 26GB!!!, How?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17

I don't disagree with you at all, but Apple has no control over what methods WhatsApp uses to back app your data. They obviously know that users have complained about it, since they have provided that FAQ, but don't seem to care enough to do anything about it. You can write a review for the app in the App Store to express your displeasure and also alert other users who may be looking to download the app. A complaint by a single user by email often times goes unnoticed, been when they are aware that others are able to see your complaint, they may find it necessary to provide a solution.
