Chromecast blocks appleTV

I can cast free to air from my iPhone 14 to Chromecast, but it won't/can't see apple TV. Very spitefull of Google, we purchased the device for this purpose and now Google has blocked it, I have changed my search engine from Google, im only one person but who knows perhaps we can do a Gamestop.

How to change default search engine in iOS 17

Go to Settings.
Tap on Safari.
Look for Search.
Select either Search Engine or Private Search Engine.
Choose either Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo or Ecosia.

Not-too-old smart TVs from select brands may support the Apple TV app, in which to play Apple TV+ content.

Select TV-connected HDMI streaming devices may support the Apple TV app.

Try searching the on-device App Store equivalent for “Apple”.

If found to be supported, then there is no need for Chromecast streaming from mobile. Using native apps should improve the user experience.

The ‘block’ is actually reverse. Apple’s own apps do not support Chromecast, but instead offer AirPlay, which is a competing streaming protocol that is not compatible interchangeably.

Select apps on iPhone may offer AirPlay and Chromecast together, to be able to stream to either a Chromecast receiving device or an AirPlay receiving device.

Thx Urquhart, its a shame that these companies can't co-exist instead of in-fighting. I wanted to play Slow Horses on my GF tv, (btw I could do so a few years ago). Now that I can't there is little point in keeping AppleTV, so I will cancel it.
