Setting up an automation in HomeKit

When I set up an automation in HomeKit to unlock the door when anyone arrives, I see a message that states that the automation must be confirmed or there must be a confirmation. How do I confirm that? There’s also a button that says test automation. Do I just tap that button and hope that it works?

Automatons not available anymore? Some time ago, my iPad Air 4 was available for use for automation purposes within the Home service. Now when I open Home and select Automations, there is some crap about Apple TV 4 and Home Pod. Nothing to set set up new or edit existed automations anymore. Automations iPhone 8 prompt Hi. I’ve got an iPhone 13 where automations in Shortcut app run without being prompted. I’m trying to do the same on an old iPhone 8 but there is no option to “Run Immediately”. When the automation is triggered, running the action needs to be confirmed. Two questions: 1) are older iPhones not able to run automations without confirmation ? 2) if not, which iPhones DO run them without confirmation by the user? Thanks for your feedback.

Homekit automations not working First, my iMac and iPhone are both running the current OS. Starting about 2 weeks ago, my Homekit Automations, which configure smart plugs to turn on and off as certain times of the day, will not stay set. It will always change back to another, apparently arbitrary, time scheduling. This occurs whether I use the iMac or iPhone Homekit app to try and setup the Automations I want. What should I do? Delete the Homekit app and start over?

I don’t have a door lock but I believe it means it will need confirmation from the person arriving home once they arrive. It’s a security feature to only allow those sharing the Home to enter the Home. You’ll need to test this out in real time to see how it works. Or if you like, test the automation for a demo.
