My iPhone was stolen and I can't locate it with Find My

- The Find My service described in the article is the only recovery feature Apple offers. It must be set up before the device is lost.

- Note that if you remotely erase your device as instructed in this article, if you subsequently remove it from your account as in this article --> Check your Apple ID device list to find where you're signed in - Apple Support , then according to this article --> How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support you remove activation lock from the device. Do not remove it from your account. If you do then a finder or thief will have an unlocked device that can be used by another person.

If you had Find My enabled on the phone, but can't see a location, there could be several reasons for this:

• The phone could be out of power
• The phone could be powered off – in that case, only Find My Network would be active until it was turned back on
• The phone could lack a Wi-Fi or cellular Internet connection
• The thieves could have placed the phone in a special type of bag or enclosure that blocks radio transmissions

In all likelihood, you will never see the phone again. (If you do see a location, it would be very unwise to confront the criminals yourself.)

But by keeping it Activation Locked and not removing it from your list of devices, you can make it less likely that the thieves will profit much from the theft.

If the message that you see using Find My is "No Device Found", then Find My was not enabled on the phone before it was lost. In this case, there is no way to locate the phone online.

If the message is "Offline", this means that one or more of the following are true:

• The battery has run down
• The phone has been powered off
• The phone does not have an Internet connection where it is currently located

In addition, keep in mind that iPhone thieves are very fond of placing a stolen phone in a special type of small bag or pouch that will not allow the phone to either send or receive a signal, so that may be a factor here as well.
