FCP windows sizes not retained

Every time I open FCPX I have to resize the windows on the bottom half of the screen. Is there any way to teach FCP to remember my settings ?

Only a small matter but annoying. My problem also exists in Mail windows too.

Try turning OFF "Close windows when quitting an application"

(I am on Sonoma, and the system preferences (now called "settings") are reorganized; I believe in Monterrey this in under General, but should be easy to find.

Thanks Luis. The 3 windows at the bottom aren't remembered so the length of the timeline varies. LH picture is how it is when opened and the RH is how I set it to be. That is not remembered when next opened. I want the index window larger and the effects window smaller.

Perhaps I should mention I am on the latest Monterey with FCP 10.6.8. It seems I can't update to any later version.

I tried fox_m's suggestion but that wasn't the answer.
