Links to bookmarks in Pages open a drop down menu on click

I have worked with links and Bookmarks etc., for many years, but this has got me bluffed. In a fairly long document, I thought I'd include a 'Top' button to conveniently send readers back to the Table of Contents.

When clicked, though, the link first exposes a drop down, which gives me (or a reader) the option of either navigating to the bookmark or editing the link this occurs when using the built-in track pad, or Bluetooth mouse. On click, the link should activate, and direct the reader straight to the bookmark, not offer the option of editing the link.

The links in the Table of Contents work as they should: Hover, click, go.

The screenshot shows the result when a link is clicked. 'Go to Bookmark' does indeed go to the bookmark, but the option of editing the link seems misplaced.

Reloaded the OS (Sonoma 14.6), and restarted inSafe Boot: the problem remains.

Thanks in anticipation.
