MacBook Pro 15: Startup screen appears as it normally does. I entered the password, Pressed return, nothing happens. Normally the computer will boot up and life is good. Today, no joy. Have any suggestions? Thanks. James

If this is an Intl Mac you can try both—
resetting the System Management Controller Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
(hold to get at least three continuous rounds of the chimes when resting the NVRAM, no harm there)
