iPod 7th Gen ios update 15.8.3, device is stuck

I updated my iPod touch 7th gen to 15.8.3 in Aug 2024. Now the ipod is stuck on a screen showing that it was successfully updated, but I cannot get past this screen. Clicking on the OK does not clear out the message. This is a working device, but it is stuck. Everything is backed up so I can do a full restore if necessary, but I can go no further right now. I cannot attempt the traditional "hold the top button and side button to do a reboot". If I click the home pad my number pad pops up to let me key in the password, but I can't get the message out of the way to log in. I am attaching a screen shot. Help!
