I have a 2010 E 350. About a month ago, only media sound would cut in and out through the car speaker, while using bluetooth. Phone calls worked fine. The solution was: changing the name of my iphone in settings. I found the solution, here in apple discussions; however it would not let me post to the old thread.

Update, this worked only briefly, I found another solution which is working so far: RESET THE NETWORK SETTINGS. This did not erase any apps, messages, or pictures. I did have to re-enter my wi-fi password at home. It will change your iPhone’s name back to the default “iPhone”. There are tutorials on the web about resetting the network [they mention some thing about VPN (I haven’t looked into that yet, ‘cause I’m not familiar with it)]
