cameras supported by apple for RAW images

hi how long does it usually take for Apple to add a new camera? there is a Canon R6MII that is not yet added. camera has been out for a while. also just to clarify, CR3 (canon RAW image format) files can be opened in photoshop but if not added to apple's list you cannot see the PREVIEW icon..?? is this the only thing affected? Thank you. I am on Monterey but getting MacStudio soon so will be on the latest OS.

But if my camera is NOT on the current Approved list, I will still not be able to see Preview Icon? is this correct?

Mac Pro, macOS 12.7

No one can predict when support for any particular camera's RAW format will be supported in macOS.

Certain apps like Photoshop, CaptureOne, etc. may support RAW formats that macOS doesn't. You would have to do your research on each app.

The Canon R6 is supported in Ventura. There is evidence that the R6MKII is also supported in Ventura. And Sonoma. AFAIK the RAW images are visible as Finder icons and in Preview. Looks like you need to upgrade from Monterey.

You might also consider installing Canon DPP4 for processing your R6MII RAW files.

The Canon EOS R6 Mark II has camera RAW support in macOS Monterey 12.7.6, Ventura 13.6.8, and Sonoma 14.6.

The length of time it takes Apple to implement new camera RAW support depends on the timing of the camera vendor providing the data to Apple; the scheduling of resources to code and test the new camera RAW implementation; the final decision on which operating system version isn't frozen to changes so that the RAW support can be added to it, and then length the beta cycle before the operating system update is released. Since no Apple product team participates here, there will be no speculation on behalf of fellow users about the timeframe of this paragraph.

I wouldn't post that there was demonstrative camera RAW support for the EOS R6 Mark II in Sonoma 14.6 unless I observed it with a RAW CR3 image from that camera. I trust what System Information > Raw Support tells me more than Apple's punctuality in updating that link for RAW support in Sonoma.

I just downloaded an R6 Mark II RAW image from two different web locations and both images are just fine in Sonoma 14.6.
