The difference between Do Not Disturb and Sleep makes no sense.

Why don't these two behave the same. For watch I have to select every single contact and app to silence them?? Why?

do not disturb doesn’t work so basically here’s the story: i like to sleep with my apple watch on because i like the sleep tracking, but unfortunately my friends like to text at all hours of the day so i always sleep on do not disturb so that i can respond in the morning, but for the past like almost year even when my watch is on do not disturb, i am still getting some text messages and it keeps waking me up. its so frustrating because im a light sleeper and it takes me forever to fall back asleep when im woken up, there have been times where it keeps going off and i end up ripping my apple watch off and throwing it across the room so it’ll stop doing that little haptic. please help why is do not disturb not doing it’s ONE job anymore?

Maybe the Sleep and Do Not Disturb focuses have different default settings for how to interpret their lists – but it's easy enough for you to change the settings, in the screens where you would add people to, or remove them from, the lists.
