I didn’t use the camera on my MacBook Air M1 for 4 months. When I used it last night, I noticed that the video/photo quality has become so grainy.
I already cleaned the screen, updated the OS and restarted my MacBook but the issue persists.
I compared the photo/video quality with my friends’ MacBook Air M1 and they don’t have the same problem. Please help. ☹️
Webcams have small sensors, and indoors, there usually isn't very much light compared to outside. So it's easy to get grainy pictures when taking photos without flash indoors.
Do you know if your friend took the good photos under similar lighting conditions to yours? Or did your friend take the photos in places where there was more ambient light?
We noticed it while we were on a video call using Discord. It was late at night so we had similar lighting setups.
They also took photos and sent it on iMessage - mine is significantly grainy.
I used Photo Booth to take a photo and video - the same grainy quality.
I used FaceTime - still griany.
I tried it again today with natural light (in front of my window) - still grainy.
I contacted Apple Support and they suggested to create a new admin user account - still grainy. ☹️☹️
