The Apple Watch band is too large for my wife. What are my options?
I would my wife a 45 m iwatch 9 and the strap is too large for her

Did you not select an appropriate band size when buying the watch?
You can buy a different band that fits her, or return the watch for a full refund, and get another one, and make sure you select the appropriate band size during purchase.
