Is there a way to transfer all my music from an old PC to a new Mac?

I have 1330 songs on my iTunes on my pc …

when I sync my apple iPad from the cloud I can download 800 ish songs no problem ….

However …

… the other remaining 500ish songs which were imported from cd’s ect won’t download automatically…..

so I connect my iPad to my pc and sync the remaining 500 songs no problem….

And here is my question…. My pc is 12 yrs old and needs updating so if I bought a new one (probably a Mac)

im assuming that only the 800 ish songs will transfer to the new pc …so how do get the remaining 500 songs onto the new pc …. Or will my entire 1330 songs just appear on the new pc ?

I have copied the iTunes file onto a memory stick but I’m pretty sure apple mac’s don’t have usb ports …

Your help would be greatly appreciated

Seems like there's a discrepancy between what is in the iCloud Music library and what is in your PC's Itunes Library for some reason.

Do you have Sync Library turned on on your PC so all the music in the library can matched or uploaded to the iCloud Music Library?

They won't just appear as if by magic. You would need to do 1 of two things for the music to appear on your new computer. Either make sure Sync Library is enabled on the Pc and on the new Mac,

Or copy the entire contents of your iTunes Library to the new Mac.

Macs do have USB ports. Current models have anywhere from 2 to 6 different USB ports. Some will be USB-A, others USB-C.

You can plug an external drive or thumb drive into these ports without any issue.

For Macs with only USB-C ports, you may need an adapter if your drive is USB-A.

If you are not paying for a subscription, either to Apple to Apple Music or iTunes Match, then the only way to transfer the music to the new Mac is, to do it manually using a USB drive. It won't happen any other way.

The Sync Music option is only available with a paid subscription to either Apple Music or iTunes Match. But you don't really need a subscription to transfer your music to a new computer.

I have the sync entire library ticked ✅ and automatically back up to cloud ✅

If you aren't paying for the subscription, then the option would not be available. Are you sure you aren't paying for the subscription?

so I’m thinking the discrepancy is the 500 songs which were uploaded by myself and not paid for … I don’t think those have gone to the cloud
Hope I’m making sense !

If you uploaded them yourself, then you need to explain how you did that, because there's no way to upload them yourself to iCloud and still have them be available in the Music app on the iPad directly.

The Upload to iCloud through iTunes or the Music app requires a paid subscription. It does not work any other way.

If you used the regular USB cable sync, then that has nothing to do with iCloud not uploading.

If you manually synced them to the iPad, then you probably just did not choose to sync the entire library. You would just need to sync again and select the entire library to get everything.

To move them to the new Mac however, you can use as mentioned a USB drive. No issue there.

Ok so I think your describing as if I was paying the subscription…

but I’m not ..

I just use iTunes and not Apple Music .

Do you think iTunes Match is the way to go for me ..

the way I use iTunes is to listen to 80s music in my car on my iPod

… I buy 1 or 2 tracks every 5 or 6 months because I mostly listen to 80s stuff … and I think I have most of it now ! 🤣

so what I’ve bought and collected up till now I want to keep and probably not add much more to it in the future …

This is why i don’t think the £10.99 subscription per month for Apple Music is value for money for me for the way I use it .

Hope this makes things clearer.!
