My iPhone 13 Pro Max is causing smoke while plug in for charging

It seems easily reproducible. Take it to the Apple Store and have them look at it. If you plug it into an outlet at their store and it starts smoking, they are not going to tell you that it is normal. Of course third party chargers can be a problem, so if it does not smoke with an authentic charger at the Apple Store, then you need to buy that one. If it is a problems with your iPhone, then that will be revealed when they run diagnostics on it.

When something smokes — any device that isn’t intended to smoke — immediately stop using it.

Disconnect the device from external power, if that can be done safely.

If the device continues to smoke, or to flame, or if the smoke or fire is spreading, call emergency services.

Then once safe, get the device looked at by qualified technicians, and either repaired or replaced.

Don’t continue to use a device that smokes, or that causes other things to smoke.

if and when my phone causes an actual housefire who am I to blame when I'm utilizing the device as is intended to be used yet it's causing a fire who can I contact for replacement?

Immediately stop using the phone and do as Mac Jim ID suggests and get it checked out at your Apple Store Genius Bar.
