Randomly losing contacts

There are a ton who have complained about this on various devices and iOS versions. IT'S A PROBLEM!! I have just recently noticed this and searched for information. The only answer has been "restore from the iCloud" ... great, but for whatever reason my account is full and no matter how many pictures I delete, it just fills up again. My contacts are not even close to being up-to-date. SO ...

if this is a known problem, WHY NOT FIX IT??? I will not pay for more storage on iCloud, so all you're making me want to do is move over to android again!!

My contacts get deleted randomly ... and not too frequent. I learn about it when I get calls from numbers in areas I have family or friends and will answer it ... and the contact, which is gone, says hi. So add a new contact and hope they don't get deleted again. I know this is a hard bug to find, it's random, it's not real consistent and there appears to be no rhyme or reason. If you want, give me an NDA and I'll do it for a reasonable price:-)

Are you attempting to store contacts in more than one place? Hopefully not. Hopefully Settings > Contacts > Accounts shows exactly one account (iCloud) capable of housing your contacts. And in the Contacts app if you tap “<Lists” in the upper left, again there is only one list.

This sounds like the root of the issue.

First of all, we don’t know what “my account” means. Perhaps it means iCloud space. Perhaps it means a device’s storage space. Or something else.

We can likely help you better if you tell us all pertinent storage capacities and exactly how much you’re using.

Regarding deleting photos, depending again on the particular media housing them, they may well simply be transferred to a “Recently Deleted” area and therefore not immediately free any space.

I am using 55GB of a 256GB device

the "account" is an iCloud account active for quite a few years, photos only appear to be back to 2019, but been an iPhone user since the iPhone 3 days:-)

I do understand the recently deleted ... that has bit me on voice mails, people would say your VM is full and I will keep it clean!!

Again, tons of device storage ... out of iCloud.

The random deletion of contacts SHOULD NOT be a problem if we are talking about the device. The iCloud only has about 10 contacts, while the phone has 327. So if I was a iCloud to iPhone integration issue it should have been going on for a years, while I have just noticed this the last few months.

Heck, it may be device specific or an app messing things up ... as you can tell from the amount of free data, I am not using it a bunch (let's say I can collect social security ,,, but have been net active since the rec.auto days with 1200 baud/half duplex, when LOL was used because anything else took too long:-)
