How do I determine if I have a virus on my iPad?

Hello, my iPad might has a virus. There are 2 apps of the same app called “Capturing Photos”, and I think I accidentally got a virus. They are not on my Home Screen or my App Library, I only see them in Settings. How do I have it removed?

Your iPad has not been infected with a virus or other malware. You have simply created two or more App icons that relate to the same App, most likely adding the second icon from your App Library.

The easiest way to resolve this is to remove the App and their associated icons from your iPad - and then perform a forced restart of your iPad...

Remove or delete apps from iPad - Apple Support

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

If required, you can then reinstall the App from the Apple App Store.

Returning to your initial assumption, providing that your iPad has been kept up-to-date with system software updates - and you have not attempted to Jailbreak your iPad - you should not be overly concerned for your iPad being directly compromised by malware. Due to the sandboxed iOS/iPadOS system architecture, unless jailbroken, your iPad is not susceptible to traditional malware infection.
