Why does my iPhone 15 screen turn off in Standby mode?

Hi, im on iPhone 15 (not Pro or Max) and when I use standby mode it just turns off to a black screen after 20 seconds unless I then tap the screen. After a google search, its telling me to go to settings > standby > display > change turn off after 20 seconds to never.

However, I don't have a 'Display' option in my settings. i feel like I've tried everything, updated to newest ios 17.6 (as of this post), using a apple charger cable and plug and tinkered around with all of my display settings that could have affected it.

can someone tell me they are having the same issue so I know I'm not going mad!!

I'm sorry. I misread your original post. You have an iPhone 15. It doesn't have an Always On Display. Therefore, you don't have any of those options. Yes, your phone screen will go dark after 20 seconds. It should light up again if you tap or nudge it.

With the Always-On display (on iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max), StandBy stays on to show useful information. For all other iPhone models, it’s easy to activate StandBy any time by either tapping the screen, gently nudging the table your iPhone is on, or using Siri.
