Permanently Deleting Facebook cookies in Safari

So, I terminated my Facebook account about 5 years ago...and yet, every time I check the cookies on Safari, two Facebook cookies always show up (on my MacBook Pro or my iMac both running Monterey 12.7.6) - even after I've repeatedly deleted the cookies, even if I've been dormant on Safari for a few days or only gone to a few websites. Now matter how many times I delete the Facebook cookies, they always seem to appear again. They're like a venereal disease. Any solutions out there?

Are you seeing this in Safari Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data?

If so, are you sure the entries for Facebook mention cookies as opposed to something else like cache?

In any case, the pragmatic answer is that you needn't worry about it. Lots of websites include images, scripts and other content from third parties — especially from big names like Facebook. Cookies are often linked to tracking and targeted advertising but, as you've said, you no longer have an account for Facebook to link any form of tracking to.
