Safari Private mode Login issue

Dear all,

Safari continues to maintain private sessions, but whenever I attempt to open a Facebook post in a new tab, I'm prompted to log in to Facebook once more. Safari is still active. I've experimented with Amazon, YouTube, and other websites in private mode, and I encounter the same issue: opening in a new tab prompts me to log in again.

This issue doesn't occur when browsing in a non-private mode. It started happening after I updated my iOS to the latest version, iOS 17.0.3 (21A360).

I've searched through the settings for any options related to cookies, but I couldn't find anything. I'm wondering if there might be a new Safari setting causing this, or if it's something that needs to be fixed.

Hi,

i found the root cause of this matter.

opening the page in a new Tab in a hidden preview mode cause the prompt of the login.

click show preview and than open in a new Tab will not prompt the login .

So you are opening a Facebook URL in a new tab.

That new tab gets a new (and separate) cookie store.

Which means you will get a login prompt, if the website is looking for a login cookie.

I’m aware of no way to change this, other than to keep the same websites in the same tabs.

The only Alert i'm getting sometimes is this one :

Dimiss or Reduce Protections both aren't capable to resolve the problem

Safari keeps the cookies local to the (private) tab. Might that be the issue here, if you are possibly switching tabs?

Steps:

0 - Safari - Private mode

1 - Log in to Facebook

2 - Open Groups in a new Tab

3 - Facebook login Page

Same example for Other websites and i told that this started after updating to IOS 17
