A left-swipe from the Lock Screen of iPad or iPhone is a shortcut gesture to the native Camera App - allowing quick access to take a photo without first unlocking the device. For all versions of iOS/iPadOS to date, this function cannot be suppressed in iPad settings.
If you are unintentionally triggering access to the Camera when unlocking your iPad, pay attention to the manner that you swipe with your finger. A vertical upward swipe will unlock the iPad, whereas a diagonal or arching swipe to the left may be interpreted as left-swipe.
As for your secondary issue, more information about precisely where (and how) you are attempting to edit displayed events will help contributors to understand your issue - and provide appropriate help or guidance.
