Which Chip with Macbook Pro: M2 Max or M3 Max
I want to Run LANDWorksCAD and sketchup on Macbook Pro- will the M2 Max /32/512 suffice or is well worth the extra cost for M3 Max 36/1000/?
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.7

Before buying make sure if that app or software can be run on Mac with chip M2 or M3 because if that software was designed for Mac with intel chip and is no capable to work with chip M then your investment it wasn’t worthy
¿are you running that software now? if so, what system are you running it on? what are its deficiencies?
if not, I can assure you that it will RUN on the MINIMUM system the software-maker specifies. Whether that is fast enough for your use, only you can decide.
If you buy Direct from Apple, not through a Reseller of any description, you have 14 days to return for a full-value refund, and buy something else if you need to.
the differences between same number of Processors/GrahicsProcessors with higher M4, M3, M2, M1 are incremental, and generally make only a modest difference.
the MAX processors have twice the Video Encoders, twice the ProRes encoders and decoders, and TWICE the bandwidth to access RAM memory over the PRO processors.
Thanks for your reply! Yes all the software runs natively on the Mac with M chips. What I’m trying to decide is whether the cheaper M2 Max machine is grunty enough to run these programmes- or whether I should overstretch my budget to the m3 Max and be sure ( bit maybe it’s overkill and I’m wasting my money?)…. Unfortunately I have no experience with the software as yet…
Thanks for your reply- I’d read somewhere that while the m3 pro chip isn’t much of an improvement on the m2 pro chip, the m3 Max is indeed a big improvement over the M2 Max….
the M2 Max machine is of course much cheaper than the m3 Max but I’m not informed enough to know if it’s powerful enough to run both of these softwares without delays- the m3 Max is assured to work but can I save a 1000€ by relying on M2 Max to cut the mustard?
No I haven’t used the software yet- thanks for the tip!
