MacBook stuck in restart loop.

Hey so my MacBook went a couple days without turning on, I finally got it to turn on and you can hear it overworking itself. When I finally get to the login part (type my password) it starts loading up and halfway it’ll shut off, while shut off it says there’s been a problem and it has to restart. I keep typing in my password and the computer keeps restarting everytime. Not sure what to do anymore haha never had this problem before.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.6

I'm not sure if you're using a Macbook Pro with Intel or Apple Silicon. It says you're running macOS 13.6 so I'm going to assume Intel.

Try booting in safe mode. You press and hold the Shift key as you power up the MBP. It'll have you log in twice. See if it makes it past the login screen. The screen make have odd refresh rates because the OS will be running bare bones.

If it's the hard drive itself, power on your MBP and hold Command + R to get into the restore menu. From there, you will be able to choose Disk Utility. Make sure you change the view option in Disk Utility to "Show all devices". Use First Aid in Disk Utility on your hard drive and see if anything needs repaired or replaced (if replacing the hard drive in your MBP is possible). Click on the hard drive you see on the left side, and I believe First Aid is the first option on the right side

Troubleshooting Mac in a Boot Loop:

A. Reset your SMC and your NVRAM:

(Applies to Intel-Basel Macs Only): Sometimes changes (i.e. Installations) are made to the system and then settings (i.e. Networking) become corrupted, technically. So, reset both on your Mac. So, reset the SMC and reset the NVRAM or PRAM. It might take three tries. to fix this. So, be certain you have the time to do so.

Start With This:

B. Re-Mount the Drive:

Boot into Recovery Mode (Intel or Silicon) . You need to click the “Mount’ button to proceed. So, select the drives, and then click "Mount" Try rebooting once more. If of no success, then click unmount button, and then the mount button. Try rebooting once more. It looks dulled-out. So, if you cannot click it, then click the First Aid button to fix this volume.

C. Install, or Restore to Access it:

If it is telling you kennel error,, then it is likely due to a corrupt update. So, either(A.) backup your Mac > erase the drive in Recovery Mode (Intel or Silicon) > install the update > Move a content using Migration Assistant. Or, (B.) just restore your Mac from a backup you created prior to this update. Didn't make a backup? If so, take this as a learning experience, knowing to always back up your Mac prior to making any major changes to it(such as an update. That way you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the update.
