Audio renderer issue. Please restart your computer

I'm using a MacBook Pro 14-inch with an M1 Pro chip, running macOS Sonoma 14.6. Recently, my audio stopped working entirely—no sound through inbuilt speakers but it is working when I'm connecting external speakers or airpods. I've tried resetting coreaudiod, checking all audio settings, and even booting in Safe Mode, but nothing has worked.

I even visited service center they said that it could be some malware because of that the inbuilt speakers aren't working so they reset my Mac and it started working. After using it for few hours I put my macbook to sleep mode. When I again started to play any video it gave me the same error "Audio renderer Issue. Please restart your computer".

Additionally, attempting to play an MP3 file via Terminal using afplay results in the error "AudioQueueStart failed ('what')."

The issue isn't only with YouTube but with Apple Music or any video straeming online platform(Netflix,PrimeVideo etc)

As of today(8th Aug) there was a Mac update Sonoma 14.6.1. I updated to the latest version and the inbuilt speakers started working fine. After using it for few hours everything was fine and then I put my laptop to sleep. When I opened it after an hour again the same problem. No video and audio is playing.

Could this be a software problem, or might it be hardware-related? I'm really frustated with this issue. Didn't get any help from service center nor Apple support. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the same issue, Macbook Pro (2021 14inch) with M1 Max. After waking from sleep, no audio will play - streaming services, Spotify all fail to play video when sound is on. YouTube shows same Audio Renderer issue. Diagnostics show no issues. Restart doesn't seem to fix the issue, but a full shutdown and boot does fix the issue (at least until it goes to sleep again). Started occurring immediately after installing the 14.6.1 OS update

Thanks for the prompt reply!

When the speakers stopped working? - It has been a couple of weeks since when it stopped working.

I've read comments of several people facing this issue on Reddit.

The thing is whenever I reset my mac the speakers start working. I have done this 3-4 times and it worked but after I put it to sleep/shut down and restart it later then it stops working and I get the same error.

I can't reset my mac everytime whenever it stops working.
