Apple Maps app does not work on the road only when connected to wifi at home ? I have deleted the APP and reinstalled and still not working on the road, only when connected to WIFI

The Maps app on iPad or iPhone needs internet access, to show anything (unless select map content is downloaded for offline use).

Through Wi-Fi, the Maps app should have regular internet access.
On cellular, the Maps app would need extra permission to use cellular data. Settings﹥Cellular﹥[scroll down to apps list] Maps app﹥
